Whilst the idea of a flash mob isn’t a new thing, a Dabke / Hip-Hop flash mob in Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport (Beirut Duty Free) at a time when the region is in flux is certainly a first.

On March 5th, 2011, passengers experienced something a little different. A flash mob performed a mix of Dabke and hip-hop to entertain and delight passengers and airport staff alike.

M&C Saatchi and Beirut Duty Free, created this vibrant event as part of their “Take Back More.” campaign. The aim was to literally create a wonderful memory of Lebanon that passengers could take with them on their journey.

Double – The Captain Of Her Heart (Extended Version) – VJ Carlos21

The Captain of Her Heart” is a single by the Swiss duo Double in 1985. Taken from their 1985 album Blue, the song is a ballad about a girl who stops waiting for her absent lover to return. The song was an international success, reaching No. 8 in the UK Singles Chart and No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song also made Double the first Swiss act to hit the Top 40 in the Billboard Hot 100.

In a retrospective review of the song, Allmusic journalist Stewart Mason suggested that the song is “one of the great lost one hit wonders of the mid-1980s.” Mason wrote: “The Swiss duo never managed to capitalize on this song’s casual sophistication and melodic grace, but it remains a glorious anomaly.” The prominent saxophone on the song was played by Christian Ostermeier……

Louis Armstrong – What a wonderful world ( 1967 ) – Letecheur Christophe

Louis Daniel Armstrong (August 4, 1901 – July 6, 1971), nicknamed Satchmo, Satch, and Pops, was an American trumpeter, composer, singer and occasional actor who was one of the most influential figures in jazz. His career spanned five decades, from the 1920s to the 1960s, and different eras in the history of jazz. In 2017, he was inducted into the Rhythm & Blues Hall of Fame.

Armstrong was born and raised in New Orleans. Coming to prominence in the 1920s as an “inventive” trumpet and cornet player, Armstrong was a foundational influence in jazz, shifting the focus of the music from collective improvisation to solo performance. Around 1922, he followed his mentor, Joe “King” Oliver, to Chicago to play in the Creole Jazz Band. In the Windy City, he networked with other jazz musicians, reconnecting with his friend, Bix Beiderbecke, and made new contacts, which included Hoagy Carmichael and Lil Hardin. He earned a reputation at “cutting contests”, and moved to New York in order to join Fletcher Henderson‘s band……
