SoftBanks’s $375 million investment in pizza-robotics startup Zume dwarfs all previous VC funding that had gone into food-robotics companies since 2013, according to an analysis conducted for Forbes by Pitchbook. In fact, before the Zume deal, the total VC funding of robotics startups since 2013 was $311 million, according to the Pitchbook analysis. The total funding for food robotics companies in the U.S. last year was $127 million, up from $54 million in 2016 and just under $11 million in 2015, according to the Pitchbook data……..
